An avantgarde designer may easily experiment so far that he or she loses any track
with wearable reality. The more contra-revolutionary Rudy Wolff regards the past as
a horn of plenty that she can mix into her own unique style, made out of wool, silk,
taffeta, satin, brocade, golden and silver embroideries, pearls and beads, lace, ruffles ...
Yet the latest collections are adapted to the glamorous side of modern life.
History is literally a chest full of treasures, and Rudy Wolff is i.a. inspired by antique
paintings, period dramas, silver screen movies, and photographies from the past and
present fashion scenes. The inspirational sources vary from the most the most
extravagant courts and decadent Victorian milieux to the most innocent romanticism
and preppy modernism. A potpourri of these various influenced was shown at Oslo´s
own fashion week in February 2009, followed by new collections at i.e. Oslo Fashion
Fair and Oxybleach India International Fashion Week in December the same year.
- These roots of the past are now combined with modern materials and a strong sense
of innovation, a subject the designer has studied at the Norwegian School of
