Rudy Wolff Glamour 1950s

Glamour
is all about the classical woman of modern
times. It combines the super feminine, the
extravagant and the elegantly simple,
especially how this unfolded between the
launch of Christian Dior´s
New Look (1947)
to the early 1960s. The essence of this part
of the line is richness of fabric, draperies
and curves. The inspirational sources are
silver screen stars like Grace Kelly and
Marilyn Monroe, as well as Parisian
couture. The line is also extended to the
more stylish and visually clean sides of the
1970s and 1980s. In 2009 this influence is
seen in
the "Vanity Fair" collection,
displayed at Oslo Fashion Fair and showed
at
India International Fashion Week.

Dresses in this style are made to measure.

The singer Julie London
illustrates the Glamour
atmosphere perfectly. The
melodies are as quiet and
elegant as an West End
afternoon in London, and
the themes vary from
Parisian nightlife to
longing and unhappy love
drowned in too many long
drinks. To the right is an
excerpt from
You are blasé
from
Sophisticated Lady
(Siever/Hamilton, 1962):
Your day is one of leasure
in which you search for pleasure.
You´re bored
when you´re adored.
You´re blasé.

While reaching for the moon,
stars are up in the sky,
the simple things of normal life
are slowly passing by.
You sleep, the sun is shining.
You wake, it´s time for dining...
It´s nothing for you to do,
you are blasé ...
Raspberry pink
creation inspired by a
1958 galla dress.
